Here is our Management Plan for Wild Maple Field for 2025/26.
Work parties are scheduled on different days of the week each month to give everyone chance to join in. There’s opportunity to meet new people and to enjoy the beauty of the Field.

Remove some grass from limestone edge.
Plant wildflower plugs: bird's foot trefoil, rock rose
Plant plug plants: meadowsweet, tansy, betony, knapweed in meadows area.
November 2025
Woodland - source and order new trees to replace dead ones.
Limestone edge - remove some encroaching bramble and hawthorn
December 2025
Plant elms and alder in copses
Tools; spades, labels

Woodland - plant more oaks
Plant more blackthorn in copses to replace dead trees
February 2026
Mulch Hedge and Standard trees along hedge line and in Wild Area.

Scythe round bases of trees in woodland.
Meadows - Scythe/strim top meadow & remove leavings
Strim peace grove circle

Mow transect paths and path to Peace grove.
Surveys of birds, butterflies, small mammals, reptiles, bats all begin

Wilderness grassy area - remove grass from base of standard trees
