Pond excavation and watering…

10 May 2025

Don’t think we ever thought the pond area would be so large, or require so many barrow trips to clear the base. But - we have a plan! Remove as much silt and dumped material as possible then point up the cobble base with a mortar and sealant mix. Hopefully this will retain more of the rainwater in the wetter seasons. Lots of volunteer hands available to help with digging and barrowing today - several more on watering duties around the Field. The removed soil is being used to create a sunny bank which should be an attractive habitat for burrowing bees and insects.
