Pond sealing

13 August 2025

After many hours of painstaking work digging, sweeping, re-setting, mortaring and - yes - even hoovering the cobbled base of the pond over this particularly dry summer, conditions were set to apply final layers of sealant, in the hope that water will be retained in the basin for as long as possible.

Later in the month, further work parties marked the meadow area ready for the farmer to mow, strimmed round tree bases using scythes and the battery strimmer and planted wildflowers in the Peace Grove circle. Up in the woodland, we deadheaded, uprooted and removed from site a patch of invasive Himalayan Balsam.
