Small mammal trapping
20 Sept 2025
Waterproofs definitely required for today’s work party! A soggy day transplanting wildflowers, re-positioning latches on the access gates and continuing on the pond repairs. Delighted to see water holding in the pond - though the field drains are not yet flowing.
We were very pleased to work again with ecologist, Ellie Rickman, who helped us set up 30 small mammal traps to across the Field during the morning. These were checked in the early evening and re-set, then checked again at first light. Despite conditions not being ideal, they attracted one field vole in the evening check and two in the morning. Wonderful to see them.
