Heatwave #2
25 June 2026
An early start today for our volunteers as temperatures set to soar above 30’C. Just a quick session with bit of strimming along the butterfly transit routes and some watering of more vulnerable plants. The tadpoles still have no legs, but the pond is teeming with life.
Jane reported some very positive butterfly survey results - 288 sightings on this week’s transit walk.
We collected in the sound recorders that have been listening in the trees for the last month. Wondering now what the data might reveal. What has been visiting the Field…?
So good to have a visit to Wild Maple Field on 15 June from Derbyshire Wildlife Trust. They are leads in Urban Rewilding Programmes, Wilder Community Officers and Community Rewilding, and were very keen to see what we're doing on the field. A really positive visit, and a big thank you to all the volunteers who help make this space a thriving space for people and wildlife. See more on our Facebook page Click here:
